10ft Pop-Up Storage Containers in Oakland, CA

We have 10ft modular pop-up storage containers available in Oakland, California (as of October 2026). They are steel storage units you can buy two ways: as a kit you build yourself (it takes two people and no forklift) or fully assembled and ready for you to pick up in Oakland. As a kit, a pop-up fits places a delivered shipping container cannot reach: side yards, back lots, retail stockrooms and tight job sites. And because the units are already in Oakland, getting them to a site in the Bay Area is a short local move instead of a long haul.

Request a quote on 10ft pop-ups in Oakland or call (888) 471-9099. Tell us how many you need and where they are going.

Two ways to buy: kit or fully assembled

  • Kit. The unit comes as panels and frame parts for you to build on site. It takes two people and no forklift, so it can go into a backyard or behind a shop where a truck cannot reach.
  • Fully assembled. The unit is built and ready for you to pick up in Oakland. Tell us what vehicle you are bringing when you order, and we will confirm the pickup details.

What a 10ft pop-up container is

A pop-up container, also called a modular or flat-pack container, is a storage unit made of corrugated steel wall, roof and door panels on a steel frame. It ships flat and is put together where it will be used, or you can buy it already assembled. The 10ft length is the popular size in our modular pop-up range, which also comes in 7ft, 13ft, 16ft and 20ft lengths, with Standard and XL widths. For backyard and small-business ideas, see our guide to modular pop-up containers.

The units in these photos have double swing doors on one end with recessed locking handles, corrugated steel walls and roof, and forklift pockets in the base, so an assembled unit can be moved with a forklift.

Standard or Heavy Duty

Lummid’s pop-up containers come in two builds. Ask which build is in the Oakland batch when you request a quote.

  • Standard. Self-assembled corrugated steel with forklift pockets, a secure locking system and a floor load capacity of 250 kg/m² (about 51 lb per square foot). A good fit for tools, bikes, seasonal stock and household storage.
  • Heavy Duty. Built with 0.9mm to 5mm steel and a floor load capacity of 550 kg/m² (about 113 lb per square foot). Stackable and linkable, with shelving kit options and a wind rating of up to 172.5 km/h (119.6 mph).

10ft pop-up vs 10ft shipping container

Both give you about a 10ft storage footprint, but they solve different problems.

How you get it As a kit you build (two people, no forklift) or fully assembled for pickup in Oakland Delivered as one welded steel box
Equipment needed No forklift or crane to build the kit Tilt-bed truck, forklift or crane to set it down
Best for Backyards, stockrooms and job sites with tight access Sites with open truck access, or boxes that must travel loaded
Shipping cargo by sea or rail Built for storage on site CSC-plated 10ft ISO units and bicons can ship loaded

If the box has to ship loaded or carry a CSC plate, look at 10ft ISO containers and 10ft bicons. If access is the problem, a pop-up is usually the simpler answer. And if you have room for a full-size box, we also supply standard 20ft and 40ft shipping containers.

Before you order: a site and permit checklist

  • Ground. Plan a level, firm base such as a compacted gravel pad or concrete, so the frame sits square and the doors close properly.
  • Access. For a kit, the panels need a clear path from the street to the spot where the unit will stand, plus working room around it for assembly.
  • Permits. Rules for small storage structures vary by city. In many California cities a one-story detached storage structure of 120 square feet or less does not need a building permit, and a 10ft unit’s footprint is well under that, but zoning setbacks, HOA rules and any local rules on containers still apply. In Oakland, check with Oakland Planning and Building (its zoning hotline is listed there) before you order.
  • Wind. On exposed sites, ask about the Heavy Duty build, which is rated for winds up to 119.6 mph.
  • More space later. Heavy Duty units are linkable, so you can start with one 10ft unit and add another when you need more room.
